Staff Training update

The June/July period marked the advent of one of Enquin Environmental’s annual staff training days, with this slot traditionally reserved for the mainstay of our survey team.

The P402R Management and Refurbishment/Demolition: Building Surveys (with Full Access) and Sampling for Asbestos was a structured presentation covering everything from legislative requirements and survey preparation through to common survey errors and survey report requirements in preparation for the effective management of asbestos throughout buildings.

This year it was the turn of Nathan Williams, our chosen training provider, to provide the refresher training-which alternates annually between internal and external sources-allowing fresh perspectives and wider breadth and understanding of experience throughout the industry.

Technical Manager Stephen Jones commented: “I am a firm believer in using as broad a knowledge base as possible when training or imparting information on others. Alternating annual refresher training days for each area of our work between both internal and external sources complements this philosophy extremely well. We have a great working relationship with our external provider who is happy to adjust the training to focus on the topics that matter to us through close discussion in the lead up to the training day. This approach has worked well for us in the past and continues to do so

This knowledge base has recently been enhanced by key staff additions who are approved to deliver UKATA training and further complemented by recent attendees to a ‘Train the Trainer’ course at Cardiff University which was very insightful into how training can be delivered more effectively, with various ideas and examples to improve retention of knowledge. These additions will be put to use in our final annual staff training day programmed for the December period.

The P402 Refresher follows on from a well-received P403/P404 Refresher training day in May which had a strong focus on the changes within the forthcoming update to HSG248: The Analysts Guide ensuring our analysts and consultants are ready to hit the ground running.

Enquin Environmental can provide UKATA* approved training for Asbestos Awareness and Non-Licensed Work with Asbestos Containing Materials (Cat B). UKATA work alongside the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to monitor training standards in Asbestos.
